INKTOBER 2017. Multiple Sclerosis

I drew these images in my iPad when I tried my first Inktober in 2017. All these images are related to how I felt when I got Multiple Sclerosis. I hope you enjoy them.
FAT. The medicine I have yo inject is subcutaneous. Every day I have to pump in the fat layer of my skin. The medication is like acid. Secondary effects happen, and it feels like you were allergic to it. But it cures.
CROOKED. Tremors, cramps, difficulty walking, involuntary movements, paralysis, stiffness and muscle weakness, coordination problems, spasms, and fatigue are some of the many symptoms that can happen to people with Multiple sclerosis. There are terrible cases of people who forget how to walk; fall and have no control of their limbs.
DIVIDE. You can see here a confused white blood cell eating the myelin off the neuron, causing all kinds of symptoms similar to the worst diseases in the world: Lupus, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, arthritis and many, many more.
LONG WAY. Multiple Sclerosis, until know, has no cure. It's an INFINITE disease. To love yourself with everything including this disease is vital to be able to cope with it. For me, it's my new characteristic that helped me see my life differently. I'm thankful with my Multiple Sclerosis for this opportunity to prove myself that it is possible to move forward and that I'm stronger than I thought. I love myself with all my details.
POISON. Since the white blood cells went crazy because of the Multiple Sclerosis, they have to be soothed with medication so they won't attack the neurons,  no one is taking care of all the external danger. Everything makes me sick, and everything is poison.
RUN. Something that helped me overcome and continue "running" even with the disease was the realization that I could continue regardless all the bad news, medicines, huge expenses, paperwork, doctor's appointments, skipped work and more. I realized how extremely strong I am. If you fall, you get up. Do not wait for your family or friends to do things for you because you will never really get out of the pit, yet they push you to run out of it.
SHY. Since I was diagnosed, it has been difficult for me to talk with people about my illness. At first, I did not want anyone to know. But now it is helping me a lot to share it with "the world." Thank you all for your understanding and support! I feel less lonely.
SQUEAK. There are many experimental drugs in the world that are giving hope to many people with Multiple Sclerosis. We have to open up to be test bunnies!
SWIFT. Every day I have to inject myself and every day hurts.
UNDERWATER. More than 75% of people with multiple sclerosis suffer from depression. It is a symptom. It is not our imagination.
GRACEFUL. Multiple sclerosis is a lesson of patience and an elegant acceptance of your new self.
TRAIL. If you have something good that helps people improve, share it. If what someone else shares do you a better person, absorb it. Leave a trail, and you will see how it grows.
FURIOUS. Multiple Sclerosis can increase the risk of emotional instability, can cause uncontrollable laughter, crying, euphoria or you can even get angry with someone for no reason.
MASK. Fatigue is one of the most frequent symptoms in Multiple Sclerosis, affecting almost 80% of people. Fatigue can interfere significantly with the activities of daily life and even be the most critical symptom for the person. It is also one of the most frequent causes of abandonment of working life in people with MS. It is the most detested symptom because people think that "you can not be so tired of nothing" but it is genuine. Many times this disease is not seen physically.
BLIND. Eye problems are common in Multiple Sclerosis, as it is common to have damage to the nerve that leads the visual signal to the brain (optic nerve), or in those that control the movement of the eye.
The damage caused to the optic nerve is called optic neuritis and results in impaired vision (blurred vision or total loss of vision) that is sometimes accompanied by pain behind the eye. Usually, normal vision is restored within a few weeks, and it is rare for MS to cause total blindness. I did this drawing with my eyes closed.
SHATTERED. Even if you feel comfortable with your illness and have been able to accept yourself, there are people around you who haven't been repaired, who still suffer from seeing them sick and struggling. We are not just ourselves, our family members and loved ones suffer too. Thank you very much to those of mine who are always with me and that their unconditional support is felt and demonstrated at every moment. Thanks for not leaving me alone at this time.
FALL. There are ways to make everything easier.
TEEMING. Multiple sclerosis is called "Snowflake Disease" because, with more than 50 different symptoms, any patients are the same.
FIERCE. Let's talk about symptoms: balance and coordination problems which cause patients to walk strangely and memory loss. I have heard cases of people who forget their family members are or forget how to do everyday things. The sun makes the symptoms worse; this is because of the body temperature increases. To balance the lack of sunshine in our lives, it is necessary to take vitamin D pills.
FOUND. All this process has made known a part of me that had no idea that it existed. Helped me understand human, mental and physical strength. It helped me find me. Thanks, Multiple Sclerosis for this opportunity.
UNITED.  Join your demons instead of being against them.

DEEP. This drawing represents an image of an MRI. The injuries or plaques look like "lights" in one of these images. My mom and I joke that they are my "fireflies" and in this drawing, I represent that — the development of a cold image from resonance to something more profound and emotional.
JUICY. They're going to tell you to use magnets, that that's how your aunt miraculously healed. "Take ginger tea every morning. My mom cured of depression or "take a joint; this way they take off the muscular pains." Take everything you want, but do not cut off medication at any time.
MYSTERIOUS. Very few people know about Multiple Sclerosis. Until now there is no cure. In the same way, there are few medications and very few studies.
CLOUD. Brain fog. It feels as if things you knew how to do in automatic like, put on your pajamas or put coffee now will be more difficult than usual. Thinking becomes very tiring. It happens to many people with Multiple Sclerosis. Brain fog includes confusion, trouble concentrating, forgetting things, you can not follow steps or directions and forget words in the middle of a sentence.
SWORD. Insensitivity in the extremities. It was my first symptom. I could fit a needle In my skin and not feel a thing in the entire left half of my body. Sometimes it's the other way around, you feel everything, and it's painful.
